PJL Management hereby informs its members and prospective members that due to the Covid-19 pandemic the library is closed. Therefore you are strongly recommended and encouraged to utilize this period to make full use of PJL
digital service, to access the digital collection with your membership code.

The Philipsburg Jubilee Library will temporarily close its doors as of Wednesday, March 18, 2020,
Wednesday, April 1, 2020. The decision was made by the PJL Board of the pandemic worldwide.

PJL Digital Reading Promotion Month.

There is always something to do at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library. After the successful Black history observance month, the PJL launches its theme for the month of March: Digital reading. On Thursday, March 12 and 26, 2020, between 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm our toddlers will be surprised with e-book reading sessions. On both events, Mrs. Millicent de Weever will be reading children’s e-books for our young ones (2 to 5 years old).

Maccow- Thomas presented the Power of Knowledge Series segment of the Black History
Month under the theme” Passing On Our Legacy” of the Philipsburg Jubilee Library activities.

The annual Black History Observance month starts on February 1 st , 2020. It began as a way of
remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. Black History month is
a time to reflect on what it means to be an African descendant. It is also a time to reflect back on the
activists and organizers of the past who fought for racial equality for everyone.

PJL grace period; no questions asked

The Philipsburg Jubilee Library (PJL), would like to inform its patrons that there will be a next grace period from Monday, February 3, 2020, until Saturday, February 15, 2020. If you have books longer than three weeks, you will normally have to pay a late fee. The PJL would like to encourage all patrons to bring back those books without paying a late fee; no questions will be asked.

Mrs. Mary Romney-Schaab and Mr. Philip Schaab are longtime friends of the Philipsburg Jubilee Library. Mrs. Mary Romney-Schaab is born and raised in the United States, but her parents and ancestors are from Sint Maarten.

Long-time, children’s librarian from Brooklyn New York visited the Philipsburg Jubilee Library during her short visit to Sint Maarten. Mrs. Vikki Hill is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Victoria Ellis, who used to live in Middle Region.

Last Friday week, President of the Beyond Kultura Events (BKE) Foundation handed over the bilingual book ‘Reis mee en ontdek Curacao’/Ban Keiru I descubÍi Korsou’, that was published by the National Library of Curacao (BNK) eind 2019.
