Children’s Book Week originated from early 1900 in the belief that children’s books and literacy are life-changers. Reading books provides new experiences, awareness building about the world outside the home; improves communication, building a greater vocabulary, speech patterns, and enunciation; improved concentration, storytime providing an ideal incentive to build concentration; and. a lifetime love of books!

Philipsburg, October 8, 2020. Teenagers do not read books for pleasure anymore! Instead, they are focused on social media, games, and movies. What is wrong about reading a book? How can we encourage them to read books again? Books have so much to offer. They can lead you to another world, share other visions and experiences, excite your emotions, and entertain you. How can a library be instrumental to stimulate young people reading books again?

Book week is HERE again. This is our opportunity to collaborate with schools and once again motivate and promote reading among our youngsters and their parents. It’s also an opportunity to remind the public that your library is OPEN DAILY and offers online books and physical books at our location upstairs Adolphus Richardson Office on the Walter JA Nisbeth road #3, during the week from 9: 00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00pm
