The Philipsburg Jubilee Library’s annual Christmas Market once again hosted a successful market. Crafters from all over St. Maarten displayed their arts, crafts and their creativity. Shoppers shopped for one of – a kind gifts and decorations, and received incentive to return to 2017’s market. Many vendors and shoppers alike enjoyed the ambience and the Christmas spirit.
The Christmas market was opened by the “Brass drum band”, followed by the “Shabba Djembre Group”, the “Marie Genevieve de Weever School dancers”, and the Ruby Labega Primary School Carolers and dancersFrom the bouncing castle to the gift baskets, natural hair products, to Night & Day makeup, food, jams, liqueurs, St. Maarten’s traditional Christmas drink Guava berry also in a Gelato Ice Cream, cakes and tarts, DvDS, visits from book authors and all. It was a day and night to remember when teenaged group Black Illusion and NIA School of the Arts’: Clifford performed not one dance, but two. Synergy and SXM Brass fantasy closed off the festive event with Santa all the way from the North Pole.
The library also sold 2 copies of the picture book S’Maatin Then and Now. This book is currently still on sale at the library.
In addition to the Christmas Market festivities Over 100 books were returned from our faithful patrons during the library’s two weeks of gift giving special as long overdue books were returned for free.
