Movie and discussion evening: The Reading Room

The evening will start with a showing of the Movie “The Reading Room“, starring James Earl Jones. During the second part of the evening a panel discussion will be held. Professionals in the field of Education and Culture, as well as a social worker will discuss the problem of functional illiteracy on our island and strategies to mobilize support for functionally illiterate persons. Partners in the SXM Reads campaign are the Philipsburg Jubilee Library, COME center, UNESCO St Maarten and Rotary and Rotaract Sunrise.

The general public is invited to “The Reading Room” evening on Saturday September 19th from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm at the library. Entrance is free of charge and drinks and snacks will be available. For more information contact the library via phone number 542 2970.
